What is Candlenut...? • Candlenut (Aleurites moluccana) is a plant which its seed is used for an oil source and spices. • This plant is in the same family with cassava (euphorbiaceae) and grow widely in tropical areas. • Candlenut can achieve its height for about 15 until 25 meters, green pale color at leaf and 4-6 cm of its seed diameter. The seed part of candlenut plant is hard and containing much of oils

The Origin of Candlenut • Candlenut origin takes place in Maluku islands and Malaysia then distributed from east side of Asia until Pacific islands • Candlenut also grows widely in Indonesian region called kemiri. • In some islands like Sumatra, candlenut often called as kereh, kemili, kembiri, etc. • Javanese used to call it midi, pidekan, miri, muncang (Sundanese), etc. • Sulawesi people call it wiau, lana, boya • Candlenut itself from Britain. British people also call it as candleberry or Indian walnut instead of candlenut
