Shane MacGowan is “praying for peace and love” across the globe, his wife Victoria Mary Clarke has said in an update.

The Pogues frontman is currently recovering in hospital after spending some time in ICU with a blood infection over the summer.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, this morning, his wife Victoria shared a photo of the singer smiling in his hospital gown from bed and wrote: “Shane is praying for peace and love for everyone in the world”.

Dozens of fans replied with some words of encouragement and well wishes for Shane in the comments section.

“Speedy recovery Shane. Sending love to you both,” one person wrote.

Another said: “He’s looking good and sending lots of positive vibes and energy to Uncle Shane”.

And a third chimed in: “Good man Shane, bless you”.

Victoria recently told her followers how Shane was determined to get out of hospital soon.

“Feeling really, really, grateful that Shane⁩ is looking so bright today!” the writer revealed on social media.

She shed some light on her husband’s mindset and thanked the staff who have been helping him.

“And we as determined as ever to get home! Thank you a million times to all of the doctors and nurses and all of the staff and everyone who is visiting him!”

In the past few weeks, Bono and The Edge, Moya Brennan, Damien Dempsey, Daniel O’Donnell, Imelda Mae, Mundy and Bobby Gillespie have all popped in to see the legendary artist.

“He probably has had more visitors since he’s been in hospital than he would have at home,” Victoria said.

Victoria, who married MacGowan in 2018, also spoke about activities the couple used to enjoy which are no longer easy to accomplish.

“We take it day by day and do whatever we can to stay positive.

“It means life has changed and it’s curtailed in lots of ways. Things you might have taken for granted — like going on holidays or even going to a movie or going anywhere — that becomes very difficult.

“It’s a two-way thing. I feel lucky to have found him. He has always inspired me. He is such a beautiful, bright, funny, intelligent, interesting person. I feel like I’m never going to get bored with him. There is always something that surprises me about Shane.

“We take it day by day and do whatever we can to stay positive.”
