The eldest children of Earl Spencer and his first wife, Victoria Lockwood, the Spencers grew up between the family seat of Althorp in Northampton and Cape Town, where they sought refuge from the media following the attention given to the Earl's sister, the late Diana, Princess of Wales. As a result, they all have charming South African accents as well as incredible tans.

While Lady Kitty is a society darling, frequently snapped at parties and on front rows at fashion week, her younger twin sisters are decidedly more private, with their March Tatler cover marking their first foray into the media. Meanwhile the 26-year-old heir, Viscount Althorp, has been in the public consciousness since the wedding of his cousin Prince Harry, with many royal-watchers swooning over his dashing good looks.

Following the breakdown of his marriage to Victoria, the Earl married for a second time, to Caroline Hutton (née Freud, of the famous dynasty). The couple had two children, the Hon. Edmund Spencer (aged 17) and Lady Lara Spencer (aged 14), who made a rather sweet flower girl at her cousin Emily McCorquodale's wedding.

The Earl's only daughter with his third wife, Karen, is just 8 years old and lives with her parents at Althorp. Her middle name is Diana, after her late aunt.

The three children of Diana's elder sister Lady Sarah and her husband Neil McCorquodale grew up in Grantham, in Lincolnshire. The eldest, Emily, was diagnosed with a rare form of spinal cancer, plasmacytoma, in 2003, but made a full recovery. In 2012 she married James T. R. Hutt, and the couple have two children, Isabella and Henry.

George, the middle child, married Bianca Moore in South Africa in 2016 (Prince Harry was among the guests), and the couple also have two children, Sybil and Molly. The youngest, Celia, married George Woodhouse in 2018 wearing the Spencer tiara, a family heirloom that was worn by Diana, Princess of Wales on her own wedding day to Prince Charles. Newlyweds Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were in attendance on the day.

The Fellowes are known to be particularly close to Princes Harry and William, often going on holiday together as children. Laura, the eldest daughter, is part of the 'Turnip Toff' set of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in Norfolk, and is a godparent to their daughter Princess Charlotte. She also writes novels under the pseudonym, Mave Fellowes.

Meanwhile Eleanor, the younger sister, who attended Oxford University, now works as a probation officer. Alexander, another Oxford grad, works in the financial services sector.

Prince Harry is still close to the Fellowes family too. After the birth of his first child, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, his aunt Jane, Baroness Fellowes, was reportedly among the first visitors. Harry was also present at Alexander's wedding in 2013.

Of course, the most famous of the Spencer set today are Princes William and Harry, the sons of the late Diana, Princess of Wales.
