NASA’s Ingenuity Mars Helicopter is gearing up for its 52nd flight, but lately, its been hanging around Perseverance, with one image in particular standing out. Captured during flight 51 on April 22, 2023, Ingenuity reached a height of 40-feet, its highest altitude yet, and captured an aerial photo that shows an Earth-like blue sky.

Perseverance also observed Ingenuity during flight 51 and saw it landing somewhere on the Jezero crater. This helicopter weighs 4-pounds on Earth and 1.5-pounds on Mars, with power coming from a solar panel that charges its lithium-ion batteries, providing enough energy for a 90-second flight per Martian day. It was initially thought that the helicopter only had a range of 980-feet and a maximum altitude of 15-feet.
