Michelle Tanner will always have our hearts, but don't get your hopes up to see her on Fuller House anytime soon. Full House franchise creator Jeff Franklin said that he has stopped asking Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen to make an appearance on the Netflix reboot.

In an interview with TVLine, Jeff says he's given up hopes that the famous twins will leave their fashion empire to reunite with Uncle Jesse and the gang. The sisters founded The Row, a high-fashion line that's won numerous awards, in 2006 and started their more accessible brand, Elizabeth and James, the following year. "The door is open, but I’m not going to be calling them anymore to invite them. They just don’t seem interested in coming," he said. It's not that he's given up hope, though. He added, "It’s been three years of invitations, so they know the door is open. It’s up to them to decide if they want to come play or not."

The first two seasons of Fuller House included many not-so-subtle references to Michelle's absence and even directly shouted out Mary-Kate and Ashley's fashion careers a few times. They are the only recurring cast members who have not returned to the show, and it seems like the third season — which dropped on Netflix on Friday — will probably dial down their jabs. Though it was once rumored that Elizabeth Olsen would take over for her older sisters, the Ingrid Goes West actress said she was never even asked. The only time the twins have publicly commented on the opportunity was through executive producer Bob Boyett, who told People before the first season premiered how the Olsens reacted to the request to reprise the role. "Ashley said, 'I have not been in front of a camera since I was 17, and I don’t feel comfortable acting,' and Mary-Kate said, 'It would have to be me because Ash doesn’t want to do it. But the timing is so bad for us,'" he explained. (The last time Mary-Kate played a character was in 2011's Beastly.)

If you're still reeling from the disappointment of the youngest Tanner sibling being a no-show, you can always look to Uncle Jesse's John Stamos's Instagram for adorable footage of the twins on the original show's set.
