The species is known to immobilise its prey with a sting, before taking it to its nest.

A homeowner in Bronte shared the image on Reddit and it has gone viral.

The post read: "Got home from work to find this Tarantula Hawk wasp carting off a huntsman spider."

Experts believe the wasp is doing its usual routine, as they are the main predator of huntsman spiders.

The wasp, scientifically known as 'Cryptocheilus bicolor', is native to Australia.

It paralyses huntsman spiders by stinging their undersides.

The wasp then lays into the spider to lay eggs, which will hatch and feed on the prey.

Experts advise people to avoid touching the wasp because their stings are extremely painful.

But they only bite if provoked.

HUNTERS

Huntsman spiders are a large species of spider that prefer to live in woody places.

They generally roam in temperate to tropical areas of the world, including Australasia, Africa, Asia, the Mediterranean Basin and the Americas.

Huntsman spiders are named due to their quick speed, large size and tendency to hunt down prey.

One Reddit user responded to the post saying: "[They're also found in] the American SW.

"Spidey ain't dead, just paralysed. Wasp will bury it after injecting her eggs.

"Baby wasps will eat their way out of spidey for their 1st meal."

But the user replied: "My housemate just found the spider's head outside."
