He was also asked to pay a fine of $7000 AUD.
Mathieson appeared before the Melbourne Magistrates Court and pleaded guilty to the charge.
The incident occurred in March 2022, and the victim was one of his friends.
According to reports, she invited him to her apartment to watch a Whitney Houston documentary and drink wine.
The pair fell asleep, and she woke up to him sexually assaulting her.
“It involved a victim who is vulnerable by virtue of being asleep. It occurred in the victim’s own home which makes it particularly egregious,” magistrate Belinda Franjic, per The Australian.
“When the victim woke up and pushed him away he kept trying to get his mouth back on her breast.
“That aggravates the seriousness of the offending in my view. It’s a particularly intimate form of sexual assault.”
