Secrets of the Lyrebird – FREE EVENT!

An entire weekend has been devoted to the lyrebird thanks to Friends of Upper Nicholson Catchment Inc. (FUNCi)

Nature lovers are invited to join like-minded community members to take part in a two-day lyrebird event on 16&17 July in the East Gippsland region, Victoria.

The weekend not only celebrates the lyrebird, but also the native forest and the water; the linked resources in the rugged mountain ranges that are important to community livelihoods.

On Saturday 16 July at 2pm, a special free showing of the award-winning film, The Message of the Lyrebird will light-up the silver screen in the Sun Cinema, Bairnsdale.

The cinema caters for approx. 65 nature lovers so get in quick and reserve your seat via the FUNCi Eventbrite page.

At 11am on Sunday, FUNCi will also offer a free presentation to the community by Dr Alex Maisey who will share his recent findings on the southern sub-species post the 2019/20 Black Summer bushfires. The event which includes a friendly lunch will be held at the Clifton Creek Hall.

The forest in East Gippsland is also free to explore and is home to many wonders including pristine rivers, waterfalls, rare plants and animals, and some of the finest remaining high-conservation areas in Victoria.
