Aston Martin has revived the iconic £3million 1960s DB4 GT that inspired James Bond’s first car
The first of the remade classic Aston Martin DB4 GT racers have rolled off Aston's factory production line. Just 25 of the models, which were a predecessor to 007's DB5, will be made
THE iconic Aston Martin DB4 GT has been brought back to life - with a special run of just 25 models.
The racer from the 1960s was the predecessor to the legendary DB5 made famous by James Bond.
And the first cars of the revival production run have rolled off the line and are being delivered to lucky owners.
Just 75 DB4 GTs were made between 1959 and 1963 and only eight were lightweight models - and these are now valued at over £3million.
The new "continuation" cars feature the same lightweight design of the originals but the engine has been uprated to 340bhp from the 3.7-litre straight six.
Better brakes and safety systems have been added, too, as part of a 4,500-hour build.
It's the first time any car has been completed at the Newport Pagnell factory since 2007 when the Mk1 Vanquish ended production.
The spiritual home of Aston has focused on restoration projects for the last decade.
Andy Palmer, Aston Martin president and CEO, said: "For more than half a century Newport Pagnell was the heart of Aston Martin.
"It’s immensely satisfying and wholly appropriate that this historic, yet state-of-the-art facility should now form a key part of our expansion."

Aston is also offering a two-year track-driving programme at top circuits around the world with the new classics.
Those who sign up will get instruction from a dedicated team, who’ll teach them how to drive their DB4 GTs in period style.
The price of the rare two-seater rebirth cars remains undisclosed.
