McFly star Dougie Poynter splits from girlfriend Maddy Elmer after three years
MCFLY star Dougie Poynter has split from his girlfriend Maddy Elmer after three years.
The bassist, who began dating model Maddy in 2018, was first linked to her in June 2019 after they were spotted kissing during a day out in London.
When asked in September if he had found The One, Dougie — part of the chart-topping boyband with Harry Judd, Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones — gushed: “I hope so. She is ace. We are very, very happy.”
The pair then moved in together and in November the musician admitted he was hoping to have a family in the future.
But sources close to him last night confirmed he and Maddy — who were last seen together as a couple at a music festival in July — have gone their separate ways.
One said: “Maddy and Dougie seemed to be a great match. They had a lot in common, including their passion for unusual animals, like insects and reptiles.
“But like a lot of couples they found lockdown very hard and they decided to split last year.
“It was a very upsetting time for both of them, but the decision was mutual.”
Dougie — who previously dated Ellie Goulding and Frankie Bridge — was so smitten with Maddy after they met that he whisked her away on a romantic holiday in April 2019.
The following month they enjoyed another luxury break, in California, and the musician introduced her to his McBusted bandmate James Bourne.
Maddy, who is signed to modelling agency Storm, later supported Dougie in 2020 as he revealed he took lethal doses of Valium after the band’s break-up in 2016.
The star, who had a stint in rehab in 2010 and attempted suicide a year later amid drink and drugs problems, opened up about his demons in a TV documentary.
Speaking of his recovery, he added: “It needs to be controlled because it’s such a slow process.”
The source went on: “It’s unfortunate that things didn’t work out between them. But they wish each other the best.”
Former I’m A Celeb winner Dougie is the only member of the boyband who is not loved up.

FORMER N-Dubz star Fazer has dedicated his new single Tears to late pal Jamal Edwards, who tragically passed away last week.
The rapper told us: “Throughout my career Jamal was such a support to me. I couldn’t believe it when I heard the news – he was the kindest guy.”
Fazer – real name Richard Rawson – has been steadily making music since the band dispersed, but could be tempted by a certain telly show.
He said: “I’ve been offered Celebrity SAS, I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here and I’ve turned them all down. I think it’s something you do when your career has dried up. I’m not there yet. However, I would love to do Bear Grylls – The Island.”
On an N-Dubz reunion, he added: “We’ll come back at some point, just when the time is right.”

The fashionista has been making waves in the pop world recently, teaming up with Snoop Dogg and DJ Wedding Cake for her single Chai Tea With Heidi.
Speaking about her decision to go into music, Heidi explained: “Last year when I had just finished recording my sixteenth season of Germany’s Next Top Model, I was asked by the big producers, ‘Why don’t you sing the theme song for the seventeenth season?’
“I’m always up for anything that is out of the ordinary from what I normally do.”

SHE was dating Hollywood star Billy Bob Thornton, but it seems Angelina Jolie also liked a bit of Hollyoaks.
Ex-soap star Paul Danan claims he kissed the actress at a party following the London premiere of Gone in 60 Seconds in 2000.
Paul said: “I went to give her a hug and a kiss on the cheek and she turned my head and smacked me right on the lips.
"The bodyguard was about to rip me to shreds.”
Speaking on The Morning After podcast, Paul added: “I felt her lip gloss on me. I didn’t want to wipe it off.”
Rita's blue Ora
RITA ORA looks electric in blue as she ups the glam factor at Milan Fashion Week, pairing her mini-dress with shades and a white fur-style coat.
The pop star rocked up in the Italian city with her squeeze, film-maker Taika Waititi.
The couple have been dating for a year, first hooking up in Sydney where Rita was filming The Voice Australia.
Last week, the loved-up couple took part in a joint tattoo session in LA.
Rita chose a rose design while Thor director Taika decided to get the name Jane inked across his knuckles in tribute to the Avengers character of the same name – played by Natalie Portman.
We couldn’t help but notice Rita is the same number of characters and would have fitted just as neatly . . .

A NEW chapter beckons for Brit crooner TOM ODELL.
Nine years on from his number one debut, Long Way Down, fourth album, 2021’s Monsters, proved to be his last on a major label.
In front of an adoring Brixton Academy crowd, Tom reminded us of what he has to offer.
Joyous, raucous, and at other times sensitive, the mood see-sawed intoxicatingly.
He beamed on stage: “It feels f*g amazing” between songs of love, loss and loneliness.
Streets of Heaven was dedicated to Ukraine, and while TikTok may have given excellent early singles Another Love and Can’t Pretend a much-deserved second wind, neither can quite match the sublime Somehow, a mature and moving slice of piano pop.
Beyond that, new track The Best Day of My Life hints at what might lie ahead.
On this form, it’s arguable that Tom’s best days are yet to come.

FATBOY SLIM has played DJ sets at some of the world’s top venues.
And now his son Woody is playing Reading Festival… but not that one.
The aspiring deck-spinner has landed a slot at the Raver Tots Outdoor Festival in Reading on July 24, which is aimed at families who want to rave with their babies and toddlers.
Woody, who is best known for appearing on Gogglebox with famous mum Zoe Ball, will also appear at sister festivals in Maidstone and Maldon.
He’ll join Artful Dodger, Garage Nation and seven-year-old DJ Archie, who became the world’s youngest DJ at just four.
Woody, who found a knack for DJ-ing in lockdown, told Attitude Magazine his parents were determined he should work for his money. He said: “They don’t want me to grow up like one of those 19-year-olds driving a BMW.
"When you get given everything on a platter, you never learn a work ethic or get respect. Some of the people who had the most money when I was growing up, later on, were the most depressed.”

ENGLAND’S WAGS really came into their own at the 2006 World Cup, but Abbey Clancy has opened up about feeling intimidated by Victoria Beckham and Cheryl Cole’s expensive tastes in fashion.
The Scouse model, who had just started dating her now-hubby, England striker Peter Crouch, at the time, said: “It was a crazy phenomenon, there was so much focus on the WAGS at that time.
“I’d only just met Pete at the time. I’d just finished competing on Britain’s Next Top Model, Pete invited me to go and watch him play with the England team and I was so worried, because Posh Spice was there and Cheryl Cole.
“I was so worried about my clothes. I was thinking, ‘I can’t compete with these.’ I’ve got a whole suitcase full of H&M and high street things. I was actually quite daunting, especially as I was younger. I didn’t feel like I had the right outfit on.”
Speaking on This Old Thing podcast she added: “All the girls were so nice to me, but there was a lot of focus on their outfits and what they were wearing. It was a crazy, fun time.”

She added: “I used to work in a vintage shop and I don’t think I ever made a penny as I used to spend all my money on clothes.”

Adele's Succession
ADELE has struck up an unlikely friendship with Succession star Brian Cox.
We hear that the actor, who plays Logan Roy in the Sky drama, made a beeline for the superstar when he was at the Brit Awards earlier this month.
An onlooker saw the pair having an animated chinwag later in the evening. Adele and Brian were given seats in the legends corner along with Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood.
A source said: “Brian is usually the coolest cat in town but he couldn’t resist introducing himself to Adele. He crouched down beside her and told her she was amazing.”
