McFly’s Dougie Poynter secretly dating star of Netflix show

HE hasn’t been too lucky in love but it looks as if Dougie Poynter from McFly has finally found his Star Girl.

I’ve learned the bassist will be having an extra special Valentine’s Day today as he has secretly been dating actress Yasmeen Scott for much of the past year.

He has been doing his best to keep their romance under wraps but things are now getting more serious and they have been introducing each other to their friends.

While Dougie is still making music with the man band, she has a flourishing career having appeared in the Netflix series The Sandman alongside Tom Sturridge and Jenna Coleman.

A source said: “Dougie and Yasmeen have been dating for ages but have been keeping things very quiet.

“Both of them are very private and they decided not to tell many people or publicise their relationship.

“Dougie actually got together with Yasmeen not long after he split from his ex. It has been smooth sailing since then. They have been on holidays together and are really into each other.”

Dougie’s previous girlfriend was model Maddy Elmer, who he split from at the beginning of 2022 after two and a half years together.

Before that his romances included singers Ellie Goulding and Frankie Bridge.

And it turns out Yasmeen has a famous ex too. She had a lengthy relationship with We’re The Millers actor Will Poulter though they split in 2019.

Here’s hoping this one turns out better for both of them. McFly are set to hit the road later this year to mark the 20 anniversary of the band’s formation.

Dougie’s bandmates Tom Fletcher, Harry Judd and Danny Jones are all now married and between them they have chalked up seven kids.

From what I’ve seen of Dougie he’s still a big kid himself — in the best possible way, of course. But I’m sure he would make a great dad if he sees children in his future.

ROD KING OF CASTLE

SIR ROD STEWART will go on a special run of UK shows this summer as part of his Global Hits tour.

The proud Scot will play Edinburgh Castle for the first time in 13 years, with other shows in Plymouth, Durham, Hull, Northampton and Bristol.

The Da Ya Think I’m Sexy singer said: “My favourite memories have been summer nights with a beer or two alongside the best fans in the world.

“I’m impatiently awaiting this summer playing at a variety of special venues – football, cricket and rugby stadiums, estates and castles.”

AMBER HEART McFLIES

TREADING the boards has been a better matchmaker for Amber Davies than Love Island ever was.

She looked smitten with her Back To The Future: The Musical co-star Ben Joyce at the 23rd annual WhatsOnStage Awards.

I first told in October how they were dating after they met while working on the West End show and things are still going from strength to strength.

Ben, who plays Marty McFly, lost out at the awards do but he looked the real winner with Amber on his arm.

At Sunday’s ceremony Amber was quick to cosy up to another celebrity.

She revealed she is a huge fan of Killing Eve’s Jodie Comer.

Sharing a photo with her on Instagram, Amber wrote: “I couldn’t not ask this superwoman for a picture. A real fan girl moment.”

LIZZO A STAR IN STRIPES

IT’S nice to know that at least in some way superstar singer Adele is just like us.

She was left begging her hangover to go Easy On Me due to a boozy night at the Grammy Awards after being led astray by US singer Lizzo.

Adele told fans at her Las Vegas residency it had taken her five days to get over the heavy session.

But Lizzo clearly bounces back a bit quicker – as she still managed to party until gone 5am after Saturday’s Brit Awards then was fresh faced when out and about in these striped trousers in London yesterday.

Adele said: “I got drunk last Sunday and I have been recovering ever since. Lizzo got me drunk.”

The pair were seen laughing and giggling at the Grammys after Lizzo sneaked in extra booze. She said of their antics: “I had tequila in a flask.

"And I also had a flask of white wine. Sauvignon blanc. I brought it for Adele and then I drank hers. I was so drunk.

"Me and Adele were drinking so much that we didn’t even really know what the categories were.”

I’m trying my hand at an extended dry January, but should I call it quits, I know who to call for a night out.

Sphere we go for U2

IT’s a beautiful day for U2 fans after the legendary Irish rockers announced their first shows in four years.

The group have landed a bumper pay packet for the debut residency at futuristic globe-like venue MSG Sphere in Las Vegas.

Singer Bono, lead guitarist The Edge and bass guitarist Adam Clayton will all take to the stage when the shows kick off this autumn, but drummer Larry Mullen JR won’t be able to join them as he will be recovering from surgery to his elbows, knees and neck due to wear and tear.

The band said: “Bottom line, U2 haven’t played live since December 2019 and we need to get back on stage and see the faces of our fans again.

“And what a unique stage they’re building for us out there in the desert.”

NOEL PET SOUNDS

OVER the years I have come to expect the unexpected when it comes to collaborations in music.

But even I have to admit I didn’t have Oasis legend Noel Gallagher teaming up with Pet Shop Boys on my bingo card.

Neil Tennant has revealed how he and Chris Lowe have remixed one of Noel’s new tracks from his band High Flying Birds.

Neil told students during a talk at Cambridge Uni: “We have just remixed Noel Gallagher. All collaborations are interesting.”

He added: “The aim is to work with someone who makes you sound ten times better. I would like more good singers to sing more of our songs, as I think they have great potential.

“As you get older you learn how music works. In the beginning you don’t really know, but now I think we know a little bit.”

Neil says it’s unlikely they will be hitting the studio with anyone who desperately tries to be cool.

Neil said: “I wouldn’t say no. Who knows? Ed Sheeran might suddenly come up with some- thing. Like, if he approached us about it and had something in mind that might work.

"So we might do it. We won’t do ‘being cool’ and Ed Sheeran certainly isn’t ‘cool’.

“We have never really cared about doing “cool music. It is really about euphoric pop music. Never say never.”
