Pie Floater with a Curry-Mushroom Pie

Today I made pie floaters for lunch.  Tnis is an Australian dish that dates back to 1890 and that was made a national heritage iconic dish in 2003.  It is not a terribly difficult thing to make-you make a hearty split pea soup and place a British meat pie that has been baked separately in the middle of the dish.  It does look like the pie is “floating” in pea soup.  It is actually pretty darn delicious.  The crispy pie provides crunch to the soup.  Need British pies?  One easy place to get them is Major Market in Escondido. They have a large variety of British foods like bangers, white and black pudding, etc.  Need an interesting lunch that is one of the 1000 things?  Make a pie floater.
