Piper Laurie Family: Know About Ex-Husband Joe Morgenstern And Daughter Anne Grace

Actor Piper Laurie, best known for her performances in The Hustler and Carrie, died in Los Angeles on Saturday at the age of 91, her representative confirmed. Though a cause of death has not been revealed reports suggested that she had been unwell for some time. Laurie appeared in over 100 films and television shows during her career and was nominated for three Oscars. She also received Emmy nominations for the TV series 'Twin Peaks' in 1990 and 1991.

Her manager Marion Rosenberg told reporters that Laurie was "a beautiful human being and one of the great talents of our time."

"Piper Laurie was one of the finest actors of her generation. She took charge of her career after a ‘B’ picture start, and created some of the most unforgettable characters in film and television," he added.

Piper Laurie was married to American writer and retired film critic Joe Morgenstern. The two met when in 1961 when Morgenstern interviewed her during the promotions of her movie 'The Hustler' and soon began dating. They tied the knot on January 21, 1962. The couple then moved to Woodstock, New York. They adopted a daughter named Anne Grace Morgenstern in 1971. They filed for divorce in 1982 after which Laurie moved back to Hollywood area and continued working in movies.

Joe Morgenstern wrote for Newsweek from 1965 to 1983 and for The Wall Street Journal from 1995 to 2022. In 2005, he won the Pulitzer Prize for Criticism.
