Swire Navigation and Bluewind Shipping will have to cough up a AUD 1m ($1m) fine over an oil spill from a cargoship off Queensland, Australia in 2009.
The dual owners of the 24,000-dwt Pacific Adventurer (built 1991), were slapped with the penalty after pleading guilty to pouring 270,000 litres of oil into the water in March 2009.
It could have been worse for the pair as the prosecutor had sought a AUD 3.5m
