Do you know this pony? Tuscaloosa police seek to reunite owners with lost pony

Tuscaloosa police are searching for the owners of a pony that caused a stir Monday night in Alberta.

The Tuscaloosa Police Department said on its Facebook page that a wandering pony was the source of the commotion residents may have heard near 30th Avenue East and First Street East.

Tuscaloosa police say they received a call around 10 p.m. about a small pony hanging out in the Alberta neighborhood.

"He was extremely unwilling to go with the officers at first and not at all interested in the pizza crusts or peppermints they offered," the department said in a Facebook post Tuesday night.

The four-legged "suspect" led officers in a nearly two-hour, low-speed foot pursuit. Officers followed the pony up and down driveways and through residents' backyards.

The pony was eventually captured and was named Ginuwine by Tuscaloosa police.

Ginuwine is now in a safe place and Tuscaloosa police have arranged a permanent home for the pony in case the owners cannot be found.

Anyone who has information about where the pony came from is asked to call Investigator Hopeman at 205-248-4780.
