Chevrolet Spark is General Motors' smallest, cheapest car, and as one might expect, it's being snapped up by a disproportionately young crowd.. GM says its profile of the Sparks sold so far show 29% of buyers are under 35 and most are women.

Analyzing the data from more than 12,000 Spark sales -- it went on sale last summer -- yields some interesting trends regarding the four-door mini hatchback.

The really good news for GM: More than half are coming from other brands, making them new to Chevrolet. That's a big deal in autoland because if a maker can make them happy on their first car, they're likely keep coming back, and back again.

Almost one out of four Sparks sold are red -- Salsa Red, to be exact. Green and blue are second and third, respectively, when it comes to paint color.

The research also shows that most Sparks are sold to buyers who care most about overall value. Predictably, fuel economy was the next highest consideration.
