ELVIS MAY HAVE LEFT THE BUILDING, BUT ONE OF HIS FAVORITE ROOMS AT HIS MEMPHIS MANSION HAS MAGICALLY ARRIVED IN THE HUB, THE ICONIC JUNGLE ROOM NOW INHABITS THE SECOND FLOOR OF THE POINT ON HANOVER STREET IN BOSTON. KEVIN KERN FROM MEMPHIS TOURISM IS OUR HOST. THIS WAS PROBABLY THE LARGEST ROOM IN GRACELAND MANSION THAT COULD ACCOMMODATE A NUMBER OF PEOPLE AND IT WAS REALLY PROBABLY THE MOST RELAXED AND CASUAL. ALL THE LOVE ME BARTENDER POP UP IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR PATRONS TO LIVE LIKE THE KING. HOW DID YOU FIND THIS? IT’S A PAINSTAKING PROCESS BECAUSE THESE WERE COLLECTIBLES FROM A REPLICA OF ELVIS’S TIKI BAR TO THE WILD 70S FURNITURE TO THE WOOD PANELING AND FAR OUT DECOR. IT’S AS IF YOU’RE VISITING WITH ELVIS HIMSELF. ELVIS WOULD TYPICALLY START HIS DAY MID AFTERNOON SOON. COME DOWN TO THE JUNGLE ROOM, SIT IN THIS COUCH EXACTLY WHERE YOU’RE SITTING RIGHT NOW, AND THAT’S WHERE YOU WOULD START HIS DAY AT THE REAL JUNGLE ROOM. VISITORS CAN’T SIT ON THE FURNITURE HERE. IT’S ENCOURAGED. SO IS PARTAKING IN A FEW MEMPHIS INSPIRED COCKTAILS. WE’VE GOT OUR BURNING LOVE, A MEMPHIS SOUL FASHIONED BEALE STREET BLUES AND THEN A HEARTBREAK HOTEL HIGHBALL. THE HOPE IS THAT THIS POP UP WILL INSPIRE BOSTONIANS TO VISIT MEMPHIS AND SEE THE REAL THING FOR THEMSELVES AND IN THE PROCESS, LEARN A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT THE LEGEND BEHIND THE LEGEND, INCLUDING THE FACT THAT TO ELVIS, THIS ROOM WAS SIMPLY KNOWN AS THE DEN. If you’ve ever wanted to visit the home of Elvis Presley but can’t get to Memphis, Graceland’s iconic Jungle Room is coming to you. Elvis may have left the building, but one of his favorite rooms at his Memphis mansion has magically arrived in Boston. The Jungle Room now inhabits the second floor of The Point on Hanover Street."This was probably the largest room in the Graceland Mansion that could accommodate a number of people. Probably the most relaxed and casual," Kevin Kern of Memphis Tourism said. The “Love Me (Bar) Tender” pop-up is an opportunity for patrons to live like the king.From a replica of Elvis's tiki bar to the wild ‘70s furniture to the wood paneling and far-out decor, it's as if you're visiting with Elvis himself."Elvis would typically start his day midafternoon. Come down to the Jungle Room. Sit in this couch exactly where you're sitting right now. And that's where he would start his day," Kern said. In the real Jungle Room, visitors can't sit on the furniture. But at the pop-up, it's encouraged, as well as partaking in a few Memphis-inspired cocktails."We've got our 'Burning Love,’ a 'Memphis Soul Fashion,' a 'Beale Street Blues' and the ‘Heartbreak Hotel Highball,'” Kern said.
