I consider myself a foodie even though I am probably the pickiest eater alive, so trying new restaurants is high on the list.

Erin Hunter is a host and multimedia journalist for Good Morning Texas at WFAA in Dallas, TX.

1) Who are you? I was born in Newport News, Virginia but grew up as a military brat. Due to that, this is my third time living in Texas, so I feel like an official Texan now.

I had a passion for being on camera at a young age. In 5th grade, I was asked to be the first school "news anchor" to broadcast from the library and deliver the morning announcements.

I graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, GO HUSKERS, 2 months after the pandemic started! This made for a challenging start to my career, so I took to YouTube making lifestyle, fashion, and celebrity news videos to avoid losing the skills I gained in college.

In 2021, stations started hiring again; and I began my career as a weekend anchor/reporter in San Angelo, Texas. I spent two years learning about West Texas culture and realized Texas could be my forever home.

The opportunity came about to move to North Texas, and I started at WFAA in July of 2023 as the Host & MMJ of Good Morning Texas!

2) What are your interests? I love traveling to new places every summer, but the one place that will never get old is going home to Virginia for a visit.

I consider myself a foodie even though I am probably the pickiest eater alive, so trying new restaurants is high on the list.

I am very invested in my relationship with my Lord & Savior.

Above all, my favorite thing to do is relax on the porch and watch the rain.

I also spend majority of my time making TikTok’s and reels for Instagram about my work life.

3) What do you like about working at WFAA? WFAA was a dream for me. It seemed like a world away before I got here. Everyday I wake up in shock I made the leap from San Angelo (Market 197) to Dallas (Market 5).

I am so grateful for the opportunity to do entertainment news at such a high level. This station is filled with high energy, kind, and devoted people who push me to be the best version of myself; every day.

I appreciate that WFAA is diverse in race, culture, and age. It makes me feel like I can be my authentic self in the workplace.

4) What's one thing people would be surprised to learn about you? One thing that people would be shocked to know about me is that I am deathly afraid of all bugs. No matter how big or small, I have a panic attack anytime one gets even a smidge close to me. If they make it into my house, I must call a friend to come over and remove it. The ones that make me panic the most are crickets and grasshoppers. I get chills just thinking about it.

Some people are afraid of heights or clowns, but for me, it's bugs!
