Happy Earth Day!
I remember celebrating my first Earth Day in 1990 when I was a girl. I thought the whole "recycling" thing sounded like a really good idea, but seemed to be just a little out of reach for my small Texas town. Fast-forward to this year, when recycling is easier than ever. As much as I appreciate recycling now, though, I really get a kick out of using the trash for crafts instead.
I'm always on the hunt for "green" crafts my three-year-old can do. The toilet paper roll is my new best friend. My daughter loves to paint, decorate, and glue them almost as much as she enjoys peeling the toilet paper bits off. This has led to the creation of our small toilet paper roll army.
I was inspired to make the Star Wars rolls based on the puppets and Chewbacca milk carton in the Star Wars Craft Book, which has a lot of great recycled crafts. Here are a few links to some fantastic toilet paper roll crafts for your family to make this Earth Day and every day.
