imagine there’s no countries. it isn’t hard to do. nothing to kill or die for & no religion too. imagine all the people living life in peace, you…

Week 1 in Prague has been a rollercoaster of emotions. The intense excitement and happiness that goes with living, again, in my favorite country paired with the sadness and disappointment and shock after learning about the Las Vegas shooting and Tom Petty’s sudden death. 🖤

More and more I’m realizing how absolutely nothing makes sense or can be predicted. To do Remote Year, one must consolidate her life into one 23kg bag. One 8kg bag. And (sometimes) a third purse / backpack. 🤦🏽‍♀️👜

That really isn’t a ton of space for stuff.

But what I’m realizing more and more, given all of this year’s events, life is just one quick adventure. It can either be filled with tons of clothes, sneakers, hardtop convertibles, apartments with blue walls, and iPhones (all of the things I have and love). 👑

Or it can be filled with memories of the first time I tasted homemade Soparnik in Split, or got nailed ☠️ by the crazy motorbike in Cambodia, or went skinny-dipping 👙 on top of the Marina Bay Sands hotel in Singapore, or when Sebastian and I spent Christmas with his family 🎅🏿, or when Liz and I spent the afternoon in Isla Mujeres drinking coconuts 🍍 and buying sarongs.

All of those things, luckily, don’t take up any kgs in a suitcase (or else I would be seriously fucked). But those are the things that have become the most important things in my life.

I’m not really getting stoked on the idea of acquiring things this year (except those airport code tattoos, but they don’t count anyway). Instead, I cannot wait for Web Summit in Lisbon to see JP 🎮 and for my parent’s to come to Portugal to pay for dinners 💰. I can’t wait for Em and Tommy to hopefully come in December to eat carbs 🍝 and to ring in 2018 the way it should in Morocco 🕌. Dying for Sebastian to meet me in Colombia to celebrate my birthday 🍦 and our friendship and eat all of the arepas. Counting seconds for Cape Town cage dives 🦈 and to climb Machu Pichu ⛰ in the spring.

Living in Prague this month is reminding me of how beautiful life is and how it can enjoyed to the nth degree by experiencing all the things — seeing, eating, breathing new cultures and places. 🌎

I miss everyone so much, but I think if any of us have witnessed anything this week, it’s how life can flip upside down in one second. For the bad — or the good. That’s why this year is so important to me. I want to live and love and learn as hard as I possibly can for the next 11 months — and then whatever comes after. ⚡️

xx
