Welcome to Oregon Midwifery Foundation

Oregon Midwifery Foundation is a non profit organization committed to increasing access to midwifery care for Oregon families.  All pregnant, birthing, and postpartum people and babies deserve the respectful, safe and gentle care midwives offer whether they choose to give birth in a hospital, home, or birthing center.  But people can’t access care they don’t know about. As a result, our projects focus on public education. We spread the word about midwifery care and birth options. The more people know about birth options, the better the access to the care that is right for them. Learn more about midwifery here.

Donations are how we fund OMF. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, your donations to us are tax-deductible. We are also in the process of setting up a way for you to donate midwifery supplies and equipment to new midwives and students. That is another way to assist them on a successful path to midwifery. Donate here!

Black, Indigenous, People of Color Midwives & Student Midwives of Oregon Grant

We offer grants for BIPOC student midwives and new midwives who live and work in Oregon twice a year.  We are currently accepting grant applications until May 31, 2024 here. See our BIPOC grant page for more info.

Community Birth

Have you been curious about out of hospital birth? Birth at home or a freestanding birth center? We have LOTS of information! Do you know how many types of midwives there are in Oregon? Do you know where they practice? Curious if home birth or birth center birth is a good fit for you? These questions and many more are answered here

Equity in Midwifery

Our commitment to  midwifery care in Oregon is incomplete without supporting equity in midwifery. We need midwives as diverse as the clients we serve. You can learn more about our efforts here
