Pavlich set to play more midfield
Fremantle coach Mark Harvey says club captain Matthew Pavlich is set to play more in the midfield next season.
Pavlich has been voted Western Australia's player of the year by a panel of football writers, beating out West Coast's Dean Cox.
Subiaco full-forward Brad Smith and Peel forward Hayden Ballantyne shared the WAFL player of the year award.
Pavlich has played most of his fine career in the forward line but Harvey says the All Australian can still improve his game.
"He has set us a high standard and he's been consistent," he said.
"[It's the] first time he's missed three games in a season. I like to think that he's learnt so much out of his previous regime, as in his career so far, that he's so intelligent with the game that he can get better."
Meanwhile Harvey admits he is uncertain whether young ruckman Robert Warnock will be at the club next season.
The Victorian-born ruckman is out of contract and is attracting interest from eastern states clubs.
Harvey says the Dockers have made their pitch to the 21-year-old.
"Obviously the longer it goes, the more uncertain you become at times, but as I've said we've done all we can to try to keep Robbie at Fremantle, so now the decision will be based upon what he wants to do," he said.
But Harvey said forward Ryan Murphy has told him he is keen to stay at the club.
There has been speculation the 23-year-old will be traded, having played just 40 games since his debut in 2004.
Harvey said the Dockers are also hopeful of retaining fellow Victorian David Mundy.
"There's about 100 players in the whole system that are uncontracted at the moment," he said.
"David's very much a required player and we've moved him into the midfield too, so he's a big part of what we're doing going forward."
