If it ever looks anything like either of these it will be amazing! That top shot is just gorgeous..! Spence Doubt it will look like that. Those intakes would starve the engines of air in high AoA and tight turns. also, the length of the intake tunnel is too short - fighter designers like long intake tunnels to channel the air more effectively - looks nice though! Paul A H
Apparently the first ground runs took place on 23 December - must be only a month or two until we see some real photos!

AnonymousER99
Looks a LOT like the old Testors F-19!! Edited December 29, 2009 by Mike @ Two Mikes Resin
Col.
Shame there are no photos in the Aviation Week report. The more I look at the artists impressions the more I can't help thinking it looks a development of the Su-47. Time will tell.
Paul A H
The rumours doing the rounds indicate that it might look a bit like a cross between the YF-23 and the F-22; think F-22 but longer and flatter. Paul A H
Reports doing the rounds on several sites indicate that, all being well, the first flight is about to take place (it's already Friday morning in the Russian far east). Tomorrow morning we could be waking up to pictures of a new 5th gen fighter...
Faceplate
Looks like a cross between an F-22 and Testors old 1/48 F-19. Remember that one? Except the leading and trailing edges were rounded off, not angled. And the vert. stabs. were canted in not out. But close enough! Still looks pretty bada$$! thx6667
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/8487026.stm I think it looks better proportioned than the Craptor, and has a touch of the Gerry Anderson about it in places. Nice!

Av8fan
I like the look of the real airplane. I also really like how the 1st 2 pictures looked. Not to go O/T, but, Which current kit would even be close to the 1st pic for a scratch build???? suggestions greatly appreciated.
Andrew Jones
Looks very nice, wonder if the're doing a navalised version?, perhaps we could buy some instead of the JSF for our new carriers.
Alan P
It's amazing. 20 years ago we had to wait for blurry, silhouetted, sneaky pics of new Russian fighters - now it's on the BBC.
AnonymousER99
The question I really have is, will this aircraft ever see production given Russias current state of economy? It sure is sexy but as noted on ARC if it does move forward I bet you see much larger vertical stabs when it is all said and done.
