Adrian Wong's hot shooting night a product of extra work in practice, says Victolero

Adrian Wong had a breakout game on Saturday as he waxed hot from beyond the arc, lifting the Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok past Phoenix Super LPG, 103-83, in the PBA Governors' Cup.

On Saturday, he finished with 18 points, making 6-of-7 triples in the Magnolia win.

Wong joined the Hotshots just recently and for Magnolia head coach Chito Victolero, it was a good thing that they signed him.

"I'm very happy for him kasi ito 'yung breakout game ni Adrian in his third year. Good thing nakuha namin siya kasi we had so many injuries," Victolero said in a post-game conference, citing examples of his injured players such as Calvin Abueva.

(I'm very happy this was Adrian's breakout game in his third year. It was a good thing that we got him since we had many injuries.)

Victolero cited that while defense was Wong's main role, his contribution on the offensive end was big for the Hotshots.

"We asked him to play defense, we asked him to guard the best player on the other side, Matthew Wright. He did a good job. Bonus na lang siguro 'yung he contributed a lot on offense."

Wong's offensive output, for Victolero, was a product of his extra work after practice.

"This guy, talagang nage-extra work siya. Nakikita niya sa mga kuya niya paano nage-extra work," shared Victolero. "'Yan ang bunga ng pagiging maaga niya sa practice."

(This guy really does extra work. He saw how his seniors do extra work. That's the result of being early in practice.)

Wong played his first two years in the league with Rain or Shine.
