Joshua Jackson is reportedly a very happy family man thanks to his marriage with Jodie Turner-Smith.

Ahead of the release of his new show, Dr. Death, the Canadian actor opened up to Entertainment Tonight in an interview published yesterday about his time on the project, as well as juggling family life with his wife. Among his warm sentiments surrounding his nearly two-year partnership with the actress, he shared that taking on the new roles of father and husband has changed his life for the better in "every single possible way."

The actor additionally gushed over Smith's own projects, which most recently include her film After Yang, which is screening at this year's Cannes Film Festival. "There is nothing ... better off than being married to her and having that baby. It's everything," Jackson said. "I wanted to say congratulations to her. [Jodie] is in Cannes right now for the first time with her movie ... I wish I could be with you there, love."

Dr. Death, which is based on the same-name true-crime podcast, recounts the disturbing story of a Texas-based neurosurgeon, Christopher Daniel Duntsch (played by Jackson), whose initially thriving practice is revealed to have mysteriously left its patients either dead or permanently incapacitated. Jackson, who stars in the show alongside Alec Baldwin and Christian Slater, shared that he's found the role to be extremely exciting to play and fascinating to study—though given its heftier psychological nature, he's also appreciated life with Smith for the ways in which she's kept him grounded.

"I think honestly, having my family there with me was fantastic, because to go home, kiss my wife, hold the baby and not be a truly, truly horrendous human being when I got home at night was a great tonic," he said. "And then frankly, when we got to the end, I kind of just collapsed, I don't think I realized quite how heavy the thing was, that I was walking around with all of the time until it was done and I put it down and caught my breath."
