African Flat Rock Scorpion

(Hadogenes troglodytes)

With a flattened body and a zigzag styled tail, the African Flat Rock Scorpion (Hadogenes troglodytes) stands out among other scorpion species! This happens to be one of my favorite species of scorpions due to their unique body design. This particular one is an adult female. These scorpions are native to South Africa, where they can be found living in cracks and crevices inside and underneath of rocks. Their bodies are perfectly adapted to squeeze in tight places that other scorpions wouldn’t be able to fit into. Despite their impressive looking tail, the venom delivered by this scorpion species is extremely mild.
