A total of 43 Shire residents became Australian citizens at today’s two Citizenship Ceremonies held at Sutherland Shire Council.

The new citizens came from countries as far away as Estonia, Philippines, Ireland, Chile and Poland.
The day-time ceremonies were held by the council in an effort to reduce the list of people in the shire awaiting Citizenship.
They follow on from Sutherland Shire Council’s Australia Day citizenship ceremony where 147 people from 35 countries took their citizenship pledge.
Mayor Carmelo Pesce congratulated them on their choice of becoming an Australian citizen and urged them to get involved with their local community.
The next Citizenship Ceremony will be held at Sutherland Entertainment Centre on Friday, May 5.
