This 1975 Ford Falcon XB Is Finished, In The States And Ready To Find A New Home!

This 1975 Ford Falcon XB Is Finished, In The States And Ready To Find A New Home!

Not going to make a Mad Max reference. Not going to re-hash the story of the pilot I knew who drove an XB Fairmont to work every day. Not even going to put out how important this car was to Ford Australia, or how big it’s fan base is worldwide. The Ford Falcon that was sold in the States was simply a people-mover, one that was unceremoniously replaced by the Ford Maverick and largely forgotten. Australians, on the other hand, have a love affair with the Falcon, which did originally stem from original models that were essentially the cars we had. But by the late 1960s and early 1970s, the cars represented the upper end of Australian muscle cars, and to this day they are strongly desired. The shape is pure midsize Ford, the V8 rumble unmistakeable and…ok, fine, it’s Hollywood-laced appeal doesn’t hurt either.

It’s not flat black, and (mercifully) it doesn’t have that strange nosecone on it. But this 1975 XB might as well be a ray of sunshine, as blindingly yellow as it is. It’s not original through and through (did the tub job give it away?) but the GT hood and interior are welcomed upgrades. Under the bonnet an Australian-block 351 Cleveland runs off of LPG and is fairly streetable, pushing 300 horsepower and just about 500 ft/lbs of torque out to the rear. And be sure to celebrate, because working that power is none other than a TopLoader four-gear.

And you’ll be happy to know that you only have to travel to Kelso, Washington to get this Ford if you are so inclined…great if you’re in the States, but if one of you Aussies wants to repatriate this XB, the seller is the original exporter, so you’ll get help with import approval, GST and can pick from one of four ports to have the car delivered to for an additional $4,000 Australian. Now, the question: where will this bitchin’ Ford end up next?

Hey, I live where this car is! It’s my buddy Lawrence’s car, and it is a fantastic machine. He has a real XB Falcon GT, too, so this is the “extra” car. His business is nothing but imports from Oz. Really stand up guy.
